Love Makes a Family: Our Adoption Journey

There are moments in life that feel almost too big for words, moments where joy, gratitude, and wonder all collide at once.

This is one of those moments.

We are so incredibly excited (and still a little in disbelief) to share that we are expecting a baby girl.

Even writing those words feels surreal.

For so long, our story has been centered around waiting, hoping, and trusting, especially in our journey toward adoption. And that part of our story is still very much alive. It’s still something we deeply believe in, pray over, and look forward to with open hearts.

But now, we are excited as a baby is joining our family in a way we didn’t expect to be possible.

And somehow, it all feels connected.

A Different Chapter, Same Story

If you’ve been following along with us, you know how much adoption means to us. It’s something that has been placed on our hearts from the very beginning.

That hasn’t changed.

This pregnancy doesn’t close that door, it just adds another beautiful layer to our story.

In fact, one of the things that fills us with the most joy is thinking about the future… and realizing that our daughter will one day be a big sister.

We already picture her in that role: loving, protective, curious, and full of life.

And we can’t wait to see how our future children, however they come into our family, will grow together.

Holding Both Joy and Hope

If we’re being honest, this season feels like holding two emotions at once.

There is so much joy in this pregnancy, so much excitement, anticipation, and gratitude.

And at the same time, there is still a deep hope and longing for adoption.

But we’ve learned something along the way: those two things don’t compete with each other.

They can coexist.

They can grow together.

Our hearts don’t have to choose.

Our Baby Girl

We already love her more than we knew was possible.

We wonder what she’ll be like, what will make her laugh, what will make her feel safe, what kind of big sister she’ll become.

And we’re so thankful that she is already part of a story that is bigger than just us: a story rooted in love, and in the belief that families can be built in more than one way.

As we step into this new season, we’re continuing to walk forward with open hands.

We’re celebrating this sweet baby girl.

We’re still praying for the child we hope to adopt.

And we’re trusting that every step, every twist and turn, is part of something greater than we can see right now.
